Nourished

I have been collecting cook books for a few years now and I have to say I am disappointed in this one.  For those that like this kind of book will like, but it is not for me.

As far as the book itself, it is a nice looking book. I give it a 4 for the cover and back of the book.

I guess I will have to start paying more attention to the description of the books from now on.  I thought I was getting a cook book.  Out of 303 pages there is only 27 recipes.  Most of them has ingredients that I have never heard of.  If you are looking for a lot of recipes, i don't recomend this book.

Bringing Maggie Home

Posted by [email protected] on September 7, 2017 at 11:15 PM Comments comments (0)

I love this author. This is the sixth book that I have read so far. I give the book 4 stars. I would recommend this book. This story spans around 70 years and 3 generations of DeFord women. All families has secrets.

The story starts in Arkansas, with 10 year old Hazel and 3 year old Maggie. They are having a tea party. Maggie accidently drops some of it and it breaks. Hazel yells at Maggie about breaking it, and she starts crying. While Hazel is picking blackberries, for a cobbler for supper, Maggie came up missing. Hazel's dad turned to alcohol. Hazel never told her daughter and grandaughter about what happened with Maggie. Hazel's daughter is Diane. Diane's daughter is Meghan.

Meghan, is a cold case detective. She had to leave work to recover from an accident. She goes to spend the time with Hazel.  She does not know her mother is coming. They will be all together at one time.  Hazel's secret about Maggie comes out.  Meghan wants to solve the mystery of what happened to Maggie.

Diane's mother  Hazel, was so protective.  Detective Meghan and Detective Eagle joined forces to solve the disappearance of Maggie DeFord.  They go to see Elaine Burton Durdan.  Elaine and her husband Nolan could not have any children themselves.  Elaine's parents ran the orphanage. Elaine's mother Nora was kidnapping children. Nora was sneaking the kids out and this was not noticed.  While Meghan was investigating, her mom Diane was sitting with her grandmother while she has surgery.  After surgery Hazel fell into a coma.  I am not going to give away the ending. I really wasn't expecting it.

He learns that someone is also looking for Shara's daughter, Tatyana.  Sigrud and Shara were closer that lovers, they were comrades.  They were fellow soldiers that depended on each other.  Sigrud goes to Shara's house and it was empty.  He wonders why, if empty why is it still guarded.  Sigrud, Tatyana and Ivanya are on a train and the train gets hijacked. They blow up part of the train.  He finds a Saypuri woman.  They start fighting.  He says to her, you were trying to kill Tatyana. You and your people were the ones to kill Shara.

I normally don't read this kind of book. I am more into sci fi and horror type stories. I did enjoy the book, so I will give it 4 stars. I recommend this to anyone that likes this type of book. This is the first book in the Shadows of the Wilderness series. The story is about Mount Rainer National Park and two of the people that work there Margaret Lane an Chief Ranger Ford Brayden.

Margie, as she is called, gets a job at the park. She had dreamed of living and working in Mount Rainer since she was a little girl. She is also trying to escape from Philip. She didn't think her ex fiance, Philip would think to look for her there. He wants to destroy the beauty of Mt. Rainier. Philip wants to modernize the mountain. Philip will go to any length to get what he wants. Margie is also the daughter of a senator.

Ford Brayden is a Chief Ranger at Mount Rainer National Park. He loves his job. He and Margie become friends. When Margie started at the rangers, she asked superintendent Brown how long Ford had been with the National Park Service, and he told her that Ford had been born on the mountain, and he would die on the mountain just like his father had before him.

The IBS Elimination Diet and Cookbook

Posted by [email protected] on May 14, 2017 at 5:30 PM Comments comments (0)

This is a new author for me. When I got this book, I did not realize to what extent that it covered. I recommend this book for anyone that has any kind of stomach problems, and give it 4 stars.  I am also a diabetic so this will help me with that.  The pictures are beautiful.

This book gives sample meal plans and a grocery list for a 7 day meal.  It recommend to get fresh items if at all possible. One of the questions asked was that this person was reading the label, and saw that all the ingredients except one was ok. She wanted to know if she could eat this, and was told no.  She said that the closer you adhere to the diet during this time period, the more you will learn about how your IBS symptoms respond.

This book lists what you need to put in your pantry and it breaks it down by food groups, like meats, milk, vegetables, grains, proteins, beverages, sweets, oil, uts and seed, fruit, poultry, just to name a few.  It also tells you how to read food labels.  The recipes are nicely written, and they look like they will taste good.  I will be trying these recipes.

Back In The Saddle

This is the first book I have read by Ruth Logan Herne. I look forward to reading more of her stories. I give this book 4 stars. I also would recommend this book to everyone that likes to read. Looking at the cover of this book, you would think this is a typical western cowboy type story. This was a good romance fiction.

This book is about Colt Stafford and Angelina Morales. Sam Stafford is Colt's son. Angelina is the manager of the house. Colt has been gone from the ranch in for nine years. Now he has come back home. Colt was living in Manhatten, when the market crashed and  it left him broke, so he returned home to help out. But the question is when the market gets better will he stay at the Double S Ranch, or will he go back to Wall Street in Manhatten. Colt's mother, Christine Stafford had died thirty one years ago, when Colt was four years old.  Colt called a P.I. friend of his, Jake. He wanted him to look into Angelina's life.  He told Colt that she had been a detective in Seattle on the drug section.  He also found Angelina's mom and son, and where they lived.  Colt went to get them and moved them into the ranch. Noah was so excited.  He took to Colt like he had always new him.  Colt eventually  decided to stay at the ranch.

Angelina had a son, Noah, that stays with her mom. She had also been on the police force, as a hostage negotiator, and with the drug task force.  She helped bring down some major players in the drug network.  She moved her mom and son to a cabin where they would be safe.  She decided to stay at the ranch, after her and Colt decided to get married. She hoped that her mom would stay, and she said that she would. Colt's brother Nick had two girls, Cheyenne and Dakota.  Isabo, Angelina's mom helps to take care of Noah and both girls, when needed.

I received this book for my honest opinion from Blogging For Books.

My Life to Live

Posted by [email protected] on February 25, 2017 at 12:05 AM Comments comments (0)

I love this book.  I have watched All My Children and One Life To Live since I was little.  I started watching All My Children since the first day it came on.  I give this book four stars and would highly recommend it to any one that likes soap operas. The one thing that I didn't like was trying to remember the names and who they went with, especially if they had the same names. For example, there was a Agnes, an Aggie, and Ag.

Carol Burnett  tells  how  she met Agnes and about how she loved watching All My Children.  Carol became a fan of AMC when Erica was on her first marriage.  She worked in a variety show and they would schedule their lunch break to where they could watch AMC.  Agnes called Carol and ask her if she wanted to play a role as Verla Grubb. She was so mad and sad that the show got canceled. Agnes was asked how she came up with the name for One Life to Live and she said that all her life it had been a passion of hers a basic truth: we only have and we have to try and make the most out of it.

Agnes was a writer and a producer. She was the first woman to win the Trustees Award for excellence in production. Her insecurities plagued her and she felt like she did not deserve it.  She was also the first woman to join the Soap Opera Hall Of Fame. She also won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In 1944 Agnes wrote a play called The Northwestern University Radio Play Shop.  The title was, No Flag's Flying. Agnes was the eleventh child as out of twelve children. Agnes married Harry Eckhardt and they had one child, a daughter named Agnes. She was called Aggie. Agnes' second husband was Bob Nixon. They had the following children: Cathy, Mary,  Bob, Emily, and Aggie. Agnes had ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Agnes was the creator of All My Children and One Life to Live.  She was the cocreator of  Search For Tomorrow and As The World Turns.  After All My Children and One Life To Live was canceled she started writing this book about her and her family. She had a stroke that impacted her walking and speech, but her mind was still sharp as a tack.
