The Homesick Texan's Family Table

Posted by [email protected] on June 27, 2014 at 9:10 PM Comments comments (0)

I have to say that I was not disappointed when I got this cook book.  I give it five stars.

I love how Lisa tells stories about her recipes.I liked how she explained in detail how to fix the dish.  I also loved the pictures that she used of the food. I always like to see how the food is suppose to look, so I know if I goofed or not.  I can not wait to start using some of thes recipes.

I like to can foods, and I was glad that there are canning recipes. I definitely will be using those recipes.  I* hope to find more of her cook books if she has any.

The Martian

Posted by [email protected] on June 18, 2014 at 2:35 AM Comments comments (0)

This is the first time I have read anything from this author.  This was a very hard book for me to read. In most of the book I had no idea what the people were talking about.

This book follow Mark, an astronaut that get left for dead on the planet Mars.  Mark tells in detail what all happens while he is there. Also on Earth the space center follows what does on with Mark when they find out he is alive. All the astronaut and botany talk was way over my head and I had no idea what they were talking about.

This is not a book I would recommend unless you have a clue what they are talking about.

Child of Mine

This is the first I have read from this author. I do however love to read anything about the Amish. I will definitely read her other books. I rate this book five stars. I would highly recommend this book. I could not put it down until I finiahed it. When I read books I like to invision what is going on in it, like I am there with them.  It was easy to get caught up in this story.

Kelly's husband died of a drug overdose, but before he died, he sold their baby to the black market. Kelly loses her baby and spends years trying to find her.  She does everything in her power to try and find her.

I loved this book. I am not going to give away any spoilers as to have the book ends. I will let everyone read this for themselves. I will say that the ending felt like it was suppose to end that way.

Dark Eden

Posted by [email protected] on June 11, 2014 at 6:10 PM Comments comments (0)

This is another first for this author. I rated this book 4 stars. This book is about a planet called Eden.  It has no sun, but some of the plants and animals can provide light and heat when it is needed.  There are 532 people on this planet.  They are all descendents of Tommy and Angela.  One of the things that I did not like about the story was how they kept repeating the words two and three times. For example, they would say pretty pretty, cold cold,  and things like that. It was kinda hard to understand the way they were talking at times.

This book has incest, horrible creatures, alot of inbreeding and different kinds of birth defects. If you are into this kind of book, then you will like this story.  There is also attempted rapes and murdering of people.  Kids born with club feet, they called clawfeet, and the ones born hare lipped were called bat faced.

I will not give away any spoilers, but I will say that this is a great book. But at the end they find out why nobody ever came back from earth to get them. I would highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.  I will definitely read more by this author.

I liked this book alot. I gave it 4 stars. I could not put it down, so I kept reading it until I finished it. This is the first I have read from this author. I hope to get to read more books from her.

This story is about a poor, plain girl named Mabel, that spends the summer with her rich room mate, Ev at the family estate, in Vermont. Mabel's family is in the dry cleaner business. Mabel becomes involved in the family secrets.  Mabel has to decide if living the good life is worth keeping the family's secrets or not.

Some of the secrets that Mabel found out about was that the family fortune was made stealing painting and Ev was sleeping with her half brother. The end of the book is very dramatic as the events take a turn and was totaly unexpected.

Until You're Mine

I have to ay that this book was exellent. I give this a 5 stars. This was one of the best books I have read in a while. You talk about plot twists. It had it. I never expected the ending to happen the way it did. Boy was it a shocker.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that Claudia was mentally off, but I guess if you had lost as many children as she did that it could be expected. She was so good with the twins that you would not think anything was wrong. I am glad that she didn't mistreat them.

Zoe/Heather, what can I say, She was good. I sure thought after she told Cecelia that she was going to get her a baby that she was going to take Claudia's. At first I thought Cecelia and Heather were girlfriends not sisters.  As I said above this was good.

This is the first I have read from this author. I gave this book  3 stars.

I liked the recipes that was placed throughout the book.  I didn't see any that I would use, but that is just me.

The end of the book made me want to read the next one to see what will happen next.

Seasons of Tomorrow

This was a pretty good book. I have always had a fascination with the Amish, ever since watching their movies. I give this book 5 stars.  I will definitely will have to get the first three books to see how all this started.

I was so glad that Samuel and Rhoda didn't have to put off their getting married. Jacob and Esther mad a good pair and was glad they sorted it all out and they could get married. Also that Landon and Leah could also get what they wanted and get married also.

The best part was when Phobe recovered and had the baby and they could finally get back home to live their lives.

Through the Deep Waters

I thought this book was pretty good. I give it 5 stars.

Dinah's mother was a prostitute, but she didn't let that keep her from wanting more in life. She always thought she was worthless.

Even though Dinah and Amos had troubled pasts, they still found love for each other. Amos' family were wheat farmers, but Amos chose to go into chicken and egg business. In the end his father finally approved of his choice.
