I have read quite a few of this author's books. I absolutely love her stories. I give this book 5 stars. I would highly recommend this book. I love to read anything about the Amish. I have always been facinated by the ways of the Amish.
Jolene was 19 years old when her parents died. The week before her marriage her parents were killed in a buggy accident. She decided to raise her 5 siblings herself instead of them be sent to other people to raise. Her fiancé decided he could not handle the responsibility and broke it off with Jolene. Jolene works hard, and find joy in painting, something forbidden in their district. Her brother Ray was struck by lightning when he was a small child.
Andy and his son, Tobias, are alone. Andy’s wife, is not mentally stable, walked out on them several years before. Jolene and Andy become friends, both unaware of each other’s pasts, but Jolene finds out that Andy is not free to marry. He trains horses for a living. I liked the way this story ended.
